Prepare the sample

If the result conflicts with other evidence, stop and investigate rather than selecting the result you prefer. Recheck setup and obtain qualified identification when needed.
Build a useful routine
Keep the matching manual, model details and purchase record together. For a multi-stone item, use a simple diagram or numbered photograph to record which stones were checked.
